Dimapur: Jakhama village in Nagaland’s Kohima district has been adopted as the myki village (women’s village) for the financial year 2026-27.

A formal programme to mark the adoption was held at the Kohima Village Panchayat Hall on Thursday.

MLA Kevipodi Sophie attended the programme as the special guest.

The initiative was undertaken under the Myki Village Adoption Initiative (Myki Activities) of the Nagaland Department of Women Resource Development.

Following the state government’s ‘one district-one product’ policy, the initiative promotes a ‘one village-one product’ approach.

Under this approach, an existing activity carried out by village women is scaled up to increase production and improve market linkages.

Ten women farmers from Jakhama village were selected to scale up the cultivation of hybrid onions, which are already growing well in the village.

The formal programme was followed by a technical session.
