It seems the BJP-IPFT partnership in Tripura is no longer running in a smooth way with the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) supporters on Saturday morning engaged in a clash with the BJP workers and supporters in front of Lefunga Police Station in West Tripura district.

It may be mentioned that IPFT is the partner of the coalition Government in Tripura led by the BJP.

As per reports, activists of both the parties had gone to the police station to file complaint regarding Saturday’s alleged attack by IPFT workers on the BJP supporters and causing damage to motorbikes and cars.

There had been a demand for arresting two main culprits who were involved in the attack. When the leaders of both the parties came face-to-face there were fresh scuffles resulting injuries to some party workers belonging to both the groups. The police however, controlled the situation.

As per information, for more than a month, Lenfunga block has been a troubled area because IPFT supporters were dissatisfied over the selection of the Chairman of Block Advisory Committee (BAC). According to reports, the IPFT wants the post of BAC chairman of Lefunga RD Block while the BJP is also adamant in its selection for the post.

It has been alleged that the block and the bank located there are not operating allegedly for fear of IPFT supporters.

According to information, the leaders of both the parties have been trying to solve the problem. IPFT president Narendra Chandra Debbarma recently wrote a letter to NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma, who reportedly assured Debbarma of find a solution to the problem.
