Sangma has urged the President to consider replacing the current Vice Chancellor, Prabha Shankar Shukla, to restore the university’s academic and administrative integrity.

Earlier the Congress accused the RSS and BJP in Meghalaya of attempting to “capture” the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU).

The Congress claimed that they were making the attempt by appointing individuals with RSS and BJP affiliations to key positions.

Congress claimed that the BJP is aimed at promoting its ideology within the institution.

Congress leader Ronnie V Lyngdoh claimed that the unrest at NEHU began only after the BJP came to power.

He accused the BJP of being behind the appointment of unqualified individuals to various posts only because of their RSS and BJP backgrounds.
