Guwahati: Assam’s young Wushu athlete Diksha Tiwari from Biswanath district has made her mark on the international stage, winning three medals for India at the Batumi Open International Wushu Championship 2026 in Batumi, Georgia.
Hailing from Naduar, Diksha delivered a strong performance in the Taolu events, securing two silver medals and one bronze medal at the international championship.
She won silver in the Nanquan and Nandao Taolu categories, competing in southern-style barehand and broadsword routines. She also claimed a bronze medal in Nanquan, completing a three-medal haul for India.
Diksha’s achievement has been welcomed with celebrations in Biswanath and other parts of Assam, highlighting the growing presence of young athletes from the state in international sporting competitions.
Her performance also reflects the discipline, dedication and sustained effort required to compete at the international level. Family support has played an important role in her sporting journey, with her parents, Umesh Tiwari and Sabita Bharali Tiwari, encouraging her throughout her career.
Diksha has expressed gratitude to her family, coaches and supporters who helped her reach the international stage and contribute to India’s medal tally.
Her three-medal performance in Georgia has further highlighted the emerging Wushu talent from Assam and the potential of the state’s young athletes to make an impact in international competitions.
