Guwahati: Autonomous District Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in the Indian state of Assam. The constituency consists of three autonomous districts namely Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong district.
The constituency literacy rate is 59.78 per cent.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the total electorate count in the Autonomous District Lok Sabha constituency is 8,92789, with males being 4,45084 and the female voters count at 4,47686. There are 19 transgender voters from this constituency.
The Autonomous District Lok Sabha constituency comprises six Assembly segments, namely Bokajan (ST), Howraghat, Haflong, Diphu, Rongkhang, and Amri.
Reserved for Scheduled Tribes, this constituency reflects the diverse tribal culture and political significance of the region within the state’s broader electoral landscape. The Autonomous District constituency plays a crucial role in representing the interests of its indigenous populations at the national level.
Notably, the BJP made inroads in this constituency in 2019 and prior to that it has been a stronghold of the Congress party.
Elections for the Autonomous District Lok Sabha/Parliamentary Constituency in Assam will be conducted on April 26 this year. In the upcoming election, the BJP has nominated Amarsing Tisso, while the Congress has put forth Joyram Engleng as their candidate for the Autonomous District Lok Sabha Constituency.

In 2014, Biren Singh Engti of Congress secured the seat, continuing a historical trend of Congress representation in the region. However, the 2019 elections witnessed a significant shift with BJP Horen Singh Bey winning the seat with a handsome margin, illustrating the party’s growing influence and the electorates shifting preferences in the Autonomous District.
