NEW DELHI: The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the timetable for the Lok Sabha elections on Saturday (March 16).

Assam will go for elections in three phases. The dates of polling are April 19, April 26 and May 7.

Elections in Tripura and Manipur will be held in two phases and they will go for voting on April 19 and April 26.

Arunachal, Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram and Meghalaya will have elections in a single phase and will go for voting on April 19.

During a media briefing, the poll panel disclosed the schedule for both the Lok Sabha polls and certain state assembly elections.

Of particular note is that the assembly elections in the Northeast states of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim will be conducted concurrently with the Lok Sabha polls.

Polling for assembly elections to the Northeast states of Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh will be held on April 19.

It’s worth mentioning that the terms of the assemblies in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Odisha are set to expire on various dates in June.

25 parliamentary constituencies in the Northeast are also set to go to Lok Sabha elections along with the rest of the country.
