Meghalaya Police is yet to make any breakthrough in connection with the murder of a young woman from Manipur, Leiyaton Soro, who worked as a nurse at Nazareth Hospital here, but the police have got some leads in the case.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Davis NR Marak said that police are working on some leads at present.
“We have got some leads and we are working on those vital clues,” Marak said.

He said that the body was handed over to the relatives after post-mortem, and the body was taken to Manipur.
Leiyaton went missing since May 26, and the body was recovered on Tuesday at Ryndang Briew, near Umiam viewpoint, on the Shillong-Guwahati highway.
Meanwhile, organizations from Manipur and Nagaland, based in Shillong, which include the Naga Students’ Union, Thangkhul Students’ Union, Naga Elders’ Forum and Thangkul Catholic Community, Shillong strongly condemned the incident and submitted a petition to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma urging him to direct the law enforcing agency to speed up the investigation and book the culprit as per law.
The Civil Society Women’s Organisation also strongly condemned the murder of Leiyaton.
