Six Maoists, including 4 women, were killed in an encounter between police and the Naxals in the forest along the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border area near Kothagudem district on Monday.
A media report quoted Sunil Dutt, superintendent of police, Bhadradri Kothagudem district, the Maoists were killed during a joint operation carried out by Telangana and Chhattisgarh Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The encounter took place under the Kishtaram police station limits of South Bastar area under the Sukma district, the report quoted Dutt as saying.

Bhadradri Kothagudem district in Telangana shares border with Chhattisgarh.
It has been reported that the incident took place around 6.30 AM to 7 AM.
He further said they received information that Maoists were trying to attack the security forces and the combing operation was carried out.
Reports said IEDs were planted in the district to target security forces who are involved in anti-Naxal operations.
