The victims who met watery grave at Sarupeta in Bajali district.

Two cousin brothers, a doctor and another engineer met water grave on Saturday at Sarupeta in Assam’s Bajali district.

They drowned as they went to take bath in a pond at Tanglapara village in Sarupeta.

The victims have been identified as Dr Kumaresh Das (27), who was a doctor and Surajit Talukdar (28), who was an engineer.

Das was a resident of Pathsala and son of Siddhartha Roy.

Talukdar was a resident of Tanglapara village in Sarupeta.

He was the son of retired teacher Bhagaban Talukdar.

Talukdar was serving as an engineer in the construction department of Cotton University.

According to reports, three youths went to take bath in the pond and Dr Das suddenly slipped into the deep pond.

Surajit tried to rescue Dr Das, but he also drowned.

Debajit Talukdar could not rescue the cousin brothers.

Later, the bodies of the two youths recovered from the pond.

The incident has descended a pall of gloom in the area.
