A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Friday between Yuvraj Singh Foundation and the Assam Medical College and Hospital(AMCH) to set up 100-bedded paediatric ICU at AMCH in Dibrugarh.

As per the MoU, the Yuvraj Singh Foundation will provide fund for the 100-bedded ICU in AMCH to boost the critical care for children during Covid19 pandemic.

The principal-cum-chief superintendent of AMCH, Dr Sanjeeb Kakati said, “Basically, Yuvraj Singh Foundation deals with children cancer but after Covid19 pandemic, they have taken an initiative to donate for 100-bedded child ICUs all over India.”

“They will provide fund for 50 beds in the first instalment and after that fund for another 50 beds will be given,” he said.

“Out of the 100 beds in the paediatric ICU, 20 beds will have full-fledged ventilators and 80 Oxygen-generated beds will be set up at the children wards of AMCH,” Dr Kakati informed.

The Yuvraj Singh Foundation is a non-profit organisation, established by leading Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh.

The foundation works extensively in the healthcare sector with focus on issues related to cancer.

AMCH was established in 1947 to provide better medical facilities to the people of the region.

AMCH is equipped with best medical facilities in the entire Northeastern region.
