Guwahati: The Kutumb Suraksha Parishad (KSP) has demanded the immediate suspension and arrest of Dr Pradip Rajbanshi, a gynaecologist and obstetrician at the First Referral Unit (FRU) in Barpeta Road, over allegations that he kicked a woman inside the government hospital.
In a press release issued on Saturday, KSP chief secretary Pranay Kumar Barman condemned the alleged incident and called for strict punishment against the doctor.
The organisation alleged that the woman was subjected to physical and mental humiliation on the hospital premises, raising concerns over patient safety and the dignity of women receiving treatment at government healthcare facilities.
Describing the doctorโs alleged actions as unacceptable and criminal, the Parishad questioned the authoritiesโ ability to ensure a safe environment for patients and their attendants.
The KSP called for the doctorโs immediate suspension, registration of a police case and his arrest. It also demanded a swift and impartial investigation into the incident to ensure justice for the woman.
The organisation further urged the authorities to take measures to protect the safety and dignity of patients and their family members, particularly women, at the Barpeta Road FRU and other government hospitals across Assam.
Warning of further action, the KSP said it would launch an agitation across Barpeta district if the administration failed to take strict legal action against the doctor at the earliest.
