Police on Saturday arrested a youth for allegedly killing his 70-year-old father in western Assam’s Kokrajhar district.
Police officials said Hasmat Ali died on the spot when he was attacked by his son Rahmat Ali in a fit of rage.
Rahmat allegedly attacked his father on his head with a sharp weapon following an altercation between them.
The incident took place at their home at Burhisatamgaon village under Gossaigaon police station in Kokrajhar district.
Police said Rahmat tried to kill his mother as well, however, locals somehow managed to save her from the attack.
