All the 40 MLAs in Mizoram, including chief minister Zoramthanga and Assembly speaker Lalrinliana Sailo, have tested negative for COVID19, an official said.

A total of 35 MLAs undergone Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on Monday at the Assembly premises ahead of the 3-day session and their samples came out negative, the official said.

Five other MLAs, who underwent Rapid Antigen Test earlier, also tested negative for COVID19, he said.

The sixth session of the Assembly will begin from Tuesday for three days till September 3.

The Assembly secretariat has issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) which outlined all mandatory checks and safety precautions and as a safety measure, the MLAs had to undergo test for COVID19.

Zoramthanga will make obituary references on 5 members, including two former Assembly speakers Hiphei and Rokamlova, who passed away recently, on the first day of the session.

There will be no gubernatorial address from the Governor.

According to the Assembly undersecretary, Lalthangmawia, at least 239 starred questions and 58 unstarred questions have been received by the Assembly secretariat office.

Apart from these, 8 government bills, including  The Mizoram Salaries, Allowances and Pension of Members of the Legislative Assembly (Eight Amendment) Bill, 2020 and The

Mizoram Shops and Establishment Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service (Amendment) Bill, 2020, have been received by the secretariat office, he said.

The secretariat office has also received the Mizoram (Containment and Prevention of the

Spread of Covid-19) Bill, 2020, and The Mizoram States Sports Council (Amendment) Bill, 2020, he said.

A total of 10 papers will be laid during the 3-day session, he added.

The state government will deploy a medical team during the session to deal with any medical exigencies, the official further said.
