The total COVID19 fatality in Manipur continues to remain at 28 while the positive cases in the state increased to 6,252 on Monday, health department officials said.

“Today, there is no report of death,” said COVID 19 Common Control Room in a statement issued on Monday.

“The cumulative number of deaths is 28,” it said.

Manipur reported its first death due to COVID19 on July 29 while the first positive case was reported on March 24.

A total of 103 persons, including 73 male and 60 female, from the general population and 37 from the Central Armed Police Force have tested COVID19 positive in the past 24 hours in the state, the statement said.

The infected patients are from Imphal West, Imphal East, Tengnoupal, Thoubal, Ukhrul, Senapati, Jiribam, Bishnupur, Chandel and Churachandpur districts.

Six from the general population are returnees from other states while the rest 97 are locals without any significant travel history.

They are being shifted to COVID care facilities, it further added.

In the past 24 hours, 91 persons were discharged after recovery from eight COVID care facilities in the state, it said.

The cumulative number of positive cases in Manipur is 6,252 while the cumulative number of recovered cases now stands at 4,330 while the number of active cases is 1, 894.

The recovery rate is 69.25%, the statement added.

As of Monday, a total of 3,45,305 persons were screened at various entry points of the state while 1,55,216 individuals were tested for COVID19 at various testing centres in the state, official sources said.
