One more COVID19 positive patient committed suicide in Tripura on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Jadu Gopal Debnath, a resident of Indra Nagar of Agartala.
Debnath committed suicide by hanging.
His body was found on Wednesday in the lavatory of the Covid unit of GBP hospital, Agartala.
This is second case of committing suicide by COVID19 patient in Tripura.
A woman COVID19 positive patient committed suicide in Tripura in the first week of June in the lavatory of the Covid centre of GBP hospital.
However, the woman committed suicide before the report of her COVID19 test came positive for the virus.
But Jadu Gopal Debnath was admitted to the GBP hospital only after his sample tested positive for COVID19.
On Wednesday, Tripura registered 217 new COVID19 cases, taking the state’s total to 4,515.
On Wednesday, a total of 7,528 samples were tested for COVID19, out of which 217 were found positive for the virus.
Of the new cases, 82 positive cases were reported from West Tripura district, 36 cases were reported from Sepahijala district, 41 were reported from Gomati, 23 were reported from North Tripura, 12 from Khowai, 8 from Dhalai and 1 each case was reported from South Tripura and Unakoti districts, a health official said.
