Mizoram to have special COVID care centres for security personnel

The mandatory quarantine period for people arriving from outside to Assam has been reduced to 10 days from 14 days.

This was stated in an order issued by Samir K Sinha, principal secretary, health & family welfare department, Assam.

“Whereas, a per the existing protocol for passengers arriving from outside the state, we are supposed to undergo a combined institutional quarantine/home quarantine for 14 days,” the order stated.

“Whereas, as per new protocol for management and discharge of COVID-19 positive cases in Asam issued vide this Department’s order no.HLB.111/2020/326 dated 24th July 2020, there shall be mandatory 7 days home quarantine for the discharged patients, with active surveillance by the health worker,” it further said.

“Now, in view of new developments, it is hereby decided that period of quarantine for passenger arriving from outside the state is reduced from 14 days to a total period of 10 days, inclusive of days spent in institutional/hotel quarantine a well as home quarantine,” it added.

“For instance, if a passenger spends initial 2 days in a hotel/institutional quarantine, then he/she shall have to spend the remaining duration of 8 days in-home quarantine,” the order added.

“Similarly, if any passenger directly proceeds for home quarantine, then he/she shall spend 10 days in-home quarantine,” the order added.

“However, if the RT-PCR test result of such passengers turns out positive in the interim, steps will be taken as per standard procedure,” the order further stated.
