Chirang Police on Sunday recovered one factory-made HK series rifle along with one magazine and 10 rounds live ammunition.

According to police sources, based on specific input, a search operation was carried out at Mwinaguri No. 4 village under Bijni PS by a team of Chirang Police led by additional superintendent of police (HQ) along with police personnel from Bijni police station.

The search operation was started from 10.30 am, police sources said.

“During the operation, one factory-made HK series rifle along with one magazine and 10 rounds of live ammunition have been recovered which were kept concealed inside the ground and accordingly seized,” police sources added.

“Follow-up legal action will be taken,” police sources added.

While sharing an image of the recovered weapon and ammunition on his Twitter handle on Sunday, GP Singh, the additional DGP (law and order), Assam, said: “Another successful operation! This time, by Chirang Police, who recovered 1 HK-33 Rifle with ammo under Bijni PS.”

The top cop informed that in the last few days, Assam Police have been able to recover several weapons, giving a blow to the anti-national elements in BTAD.

“In a blow to anti-Nationals in BTAD, over the last few days, we have recovered 5 AK-47, 2 AK-56 & 2 HK-33 Rifles along with 1 M20 & 3 9mm pistols,” Singh tweeted.
