Tripura government has announced complete lockdown on July 5 across the state.

Chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced the day-long lockdown to be imposed on Sunday next.

However, the emergency services have been exempted from the purview of the lockdown.

The chief minister appealed to all the citizens for showering their support.

Tripura law minister Ratan Lal Nath said more such lockdowns for the day are likely to be imposed in the month of July.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal, the chief minister urged the people to maintain social distancing norms, 2-meter distance, wear masks and maintain hygiene.

If masks are not available, he said, the people can make use of the locally-made Gamocha or traditional Risha.

A total of 1,071 samples were tested for Covid19, out of which 8 were found positive for the virus.
