IBSD, Takyelpat gave away locally made hand sanitizers, bottled drinking water, 3 layered masks and face shields to different community quarantine centres and other frontline workers in Manipur.
This comes after the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) handed over equipment to medical centres.
The distribution was made in view of the shortage of supply of these items due to mass returning of stranded persons from different part of the country, IBSD stated in a press release on Thursday.
The items were distributed at the community quarantine centres located at Johnstone Higher Secondary School, Imphal, Manipur College, Pishumthong, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Khumbong, Imphal West district police, Singjamei police station and Patsoi police station all in Manipur’s Imphal West district.
Locally made face shields and hand sanitizers were also distributed to Primary health centre, Khumbong.
It may be mentioned that IBSD earlier lent one Real Time-PCR to the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences and other consumables for testing COVID-19 to State Health Department.
One RT-PCR and RNA Extraction equipment were also lent to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal.
IBSD also distributed hand sanitizers to few media persons, police and sanitary workers of Imphal Municipal Council just before the announcement of national lockdown.
Last week, the IBSD and Society for Ethnopharmacology (SFE)-India have started a weekly webinar on Ethnopharmacology to contribute to society through an integrated and synergistic approach by leveraging the digital platform.
IBSD was established in 2001 with an objective to find scientific ways for the sustainable uses of the bioresources and its protection to stop the depletion of the rich biodiversity in the northeast.
It has its centres at Shillong, Gangtok and Aizawl as well.
