The Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday said e-commerce companies will not be allowed to supply non-essential goods until May 3.
“Supply of non-essential goods by e-commerce companies to remain prohibited during the second phase of nationwide lockdown to fight against COVID-19,” the spokesperson of the Ministry of Home Affairs said in a tweet.

“In continuation of Ministry of Home Affairs order… and in the exercise of the powers, conferred under Section 10(2)(1) of the Disaster Management Act,…the National Executive Committee orders to exclude e-commerce companies from the consolidated revised guidelines for strict implementation by ministries/department of the government of India, state/union territory government and authorities,” a notification of the Ministry of Home Affairs stated.
As per the Sub-Clause (V) under Clause 14 on commercial and private establishments, the e-commerce companies, vehicles used by e-commerce operators will be allowed to ply with necessary permissions.
Meanwhile, union home minister Amit Shah chaired a review meeting on MHA control room operations set up to fight the COVID-19 epidemic, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in New Delhi on Saturday.
