The Assam government has decided to organise special training for doctors, nurses and other health workers as part of the preparation to fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
The training will focus on various sectors and will be held in different parts of the state.
However, there have been allegations that in such a critical situation around 30 BSc nurses were made to wait at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) campus since Monday morning.

“A team of nurses reached GMCH in the morning to receive training, however, no official met them and they were made to wait throughout the day,” alleged a guardian of one of the nurses.
“In the evening an official came and asked the group to return to Nalbari as there were no lodging facilities for them,” the parent added.
Reacting to the allegations, GMCH superintendent said, “The guardian by bringing in the allegation proved that she has no intention to serve the nation in this medical emergency situation.”
“As health workers, we all are working hard to ensure the prevention of the pandemic. We all have to endure some trouble,” he added.
