Assam government on Thursday fixed the new timings for the grocery shops during the lockdown period.

All retail grocery shops in Assam will remain open daily from 8 am to 7 pm during the lockdown period which has been enforced to prevent spread of deadly coronavirus.

The Assam government on Thursday fixed the new timings for the grocery shops during the lockdown period.

“The timing of operation for wholesalers of the above mentioned items (grocery) can be from 8 am to 4 pm and for retailers from 8 am to 7 pm,” said an official statement.

“During the ongoing lockdown period it is necessary that the essential items like medicines, grocery items, fruits, vegetables and milk are made accessible to the people.

“Hence, it is necessary that grocery shops, chemist shops, fruit and vegetable shops, milk sellers are allowed to work by keeping the shops open for the benefit of the people,” the statement added.

It is to be ensured that no congregation of people takes place.

Social distancing is to be ensured in each establishment with proper sanitization facility. This order comes into force from Thursday.
