Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee (SPCC) president, Bharat Basnet has strongly condemned the appointment of Sunil Saraogi as the officer on special duty (OSD) to chief minister.
While alleging that the appointment was the direct violation of the Old Laws of Sikkim and Rule 4(4), he demanded the State Government to immediately repeal its order.
Addressing a press conference in Gangtok on Tuesday, SPCC president alleged Sikkim Krantikari Morcha government has been working totally against its promises made before the election.
He stated that SKM had promised to make the Local Protection Act but now has been working against the local interest of the people after getting their mandate.
He stated that the Congress party strongly criticizes and condemns such work culture of the State Government and further expressed his hope that the State government would correct its mistakes.
Basnet mentioned that SKM party had launched a strong movement on the appointment of Anita Gupta as the OSD in the Capacity Building Department in the earlier government but now SKM has been following the same step by violating the Rule 4(4).
He mentioned that SKM has been violating the Old Laws of Sikkim immediately after forming the government with the appointments of non-Sikkimese in the State Government.
He expressed that advisors to the present chief minister had earlier advocated lots for the local protection but were now totally silent after getting post in the government despite of the work against the local protection.
Basnet mentioned that unemployed youths have supported SKM party wholeheartedly but now the government has not been doing anything for youths of Sikkim.
He added that such work of the government was very dangerous for the future generation of the State.
He also strongly criticized and condemned the recent press statement of a member of Old Settlers of Sikkim, Ram Pujan Singh that people came from Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal have been exempted from the income tax.
He alleged that a member of old settler has dared to call the people of Sikkim outsider due to the weakness of the government.
He asserted that the problem of old settlers regarding IT exemption was not the problem of Sikkim but if they have income then they should pay income tax.
