Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi greeted the people of Assam on the occasion of Kali Puja and Deepavali.
In a message to all sections of the people of Assam, Prof Mukhi said, “Deepavali, the festival of lights is celebrated to dispel the darkness and give wisdom a chance to prevail over ignorance.”
“On this pious occasion of Deepavali I call upon everybody to celebrate the festival spreading the message of universal brotherhood and harmonial coexistence,” the message further read.
He also said, “Let us all celebrate Deepavali by abjuring high decibel fire crackers and giving Swachhata Hi Seva a chance to make our society clean and green.”
Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal also extended his greetings to the people on the festive occasion of Diwali.
In a message, the chief minister said that the festival of lights signifies the triumph of good over evil and serves to dispel darkness and ignorance from society.
He urged the people to make the festival more illuminating yet safe and without any hazardous fallout taking forward the government’s avowed goal of making Assam a pollution-free State.
He also made a call to the people to pledge on the occasion to stand united against all divisive forces and join the efforts in building a more prosperous and vibrant Assam.
Assam industries and commerce minister Chandra Mohan Patowary has extended his warm greetings to the people of Assam on the occasion of Diwali and Kali Puja.
In a message, Patowary said, ‘May Diwali bring joy and good fortune to the people of the State.’
The minister added, ‘May Ma Kali bless our people with peace, progress and prosperity.’
