Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday congratulated legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan for winning Dada Sahab Phalke Award for the year 2018.

Information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday revealed that Bachchan has been ‘selected unanimously’ for Dada Saheb Phalke Award.
Javadekar tweeted, “The legendary Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and the international community are happy. My heartiest congratulations to him. @narendramodi @SrBachchan”

The recipient of the Dada Saheb Phalke Award, who is selected by a group of eminent personalities of the Indian film industry, is honoured for his/her outstanding contribution for the growth and development of Indian cinema.
The award comprises of a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh, a Golden Lotus and a shawl.
Congratulatory notes have been pouring on Bachchan through various social media platforms.
Bachchan was the first artist to receive the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1991.
He also became the first living person from an Asian country to have been modelled in wax at London’s Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in 2000.
The legendary actor was awarded the Padma Shri in 1984, the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
