The Koch Rajbonshi Sanmelan has called for a 12-hour Assam bandh on September 12 next.
The shut-down has been called by the faction led by Bireswar Saikia and Durlabh Samua.
The sanmelan has raised serious allegation that names of more than five lakh people belonging to the Koch Rajbonshi community have been left out from the final NRC.
The bandh on Thursday has been called opposing the NRC updation process.

This was announced at a press conference addressed at the Dispur Press Club on Tuesday.
The shutdown has been called from 5 am till 5 pm on Thursday.
Addressing media persons, Saikia alleged that most of the people belonging the Koch Rajbonshi community in Goalpara, Kokrajhar, Dhemaji, Bongaigaon and Udalguri have been left in the final NRC.
Notably, the bandh has been called despite strict directive from the Guahati High Court.
Saikia further alleged that several illegal foreigners’ have found place in the final NRC.
Saikia further alleged that a political conspiracy was at work to intentionally delete names of Koch Rajbonshi people in BTAD areas.
