Caritas India has partnered European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) and HCL Foundation for supporting 3690 flood-hit families of Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts in Assam.

An orientation for the field staff in this regard was also organised by Caritas in North Lakhimpur recently.

Caritas India disaster risk reduction Manager Anjan Bag along with zonal manager Jonas Lakra (Zone Manager), Bablu Sarkar, Philip George (Finance Officer) facilitated the orientation programme.

In the orientation, the staff was briefed about ECHO and HCL projects to plan future activities in the fields.
They have been briefed about 10 projects from ECHO and 11 HCL projects.

The project support by ECHO would reach out to 2596 most vulnerable and flood-impacted families with Multi-purpose Cash Transfers (UCT) and WaSH intervention in 20 villages of North Lakhimpur district.

HCL, on the other hand, would reach out to 547 families with a population of 2490 in 10 worst affected villages in Dhemaji district and provide Livelihood and education support.

The HCl project would also give a special focus to mother and children with Women-Led Comprehensive Recovery of Flood Affected Communities in Assam to support local-based livelihood restoration, AWW refurbishment, CFS, etc.
