Former Indian cricketer Ajay Ratra on Wednesday was appointed as the head coach of the Assam men’s (senior) cricket team for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2019-20 season.
Informing about the appointment, Ratra stated on his official Twitter handle, “Just to share with all my friends n followers: – I have been appointed Head Coach of Assam Senior Men’s Team (Ranji Trophy) for coming season. Need your good wishes n blessings.”
The 2019-20 Ranji Trophy season will start from December 9 next and will end on March 13, 2020.
Ajay Ratra made his ODI debut in 2002 and was the youngest wicketkeeper to make a century in Tests.
Ajay Ratra was also the second Indian wicketkeeper to make a century overseas.
Ajay Ratra played 99 first-class cricket matches and 89 List A cricket matches in his career.
He scored a total of 4029 runs in first-class cricket matches and 1381 runs in List A cricket matches.
He was also a part of the Under-19 cricket team which won the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2000.
