AGARTALA: Union home minister Amit Shah, while highlighting, the Narendra Modi-led national democratic alliance (NDA) government’s efforts for re-establishing peace in the Northeast, stated that over 10 peace accords were signed and over 10,000 insurgents were integrated into the mainstream across the region.
Speaking at an election rally at Kumarghat in Tripura, union home minister Amit Shah compared the government’s tribal development budget, noting an increase from Rs 24,000 crore under the Congress regime to Rs 1.25 lakh crore under Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.
He also highlighted achievements such as appointing Droupadi Murmu as the first tribal woman President and establishing 740 Eklavya Model Residential schools.
Shah emphasized the focus on sectors like tourism, connectivity, health, employment, and infrastructure.

He praised the settlement of 40,000 Renag tribals in Tripura and outlined various development projects, including the expansion of national highways and railway lines.
Shah criticized the Left parties for promoting violence and insurgency and credited the Modi government with stopping infiltration.
Urging support for BJP candidate Kriti Devi Debbarman in the Tripura East Lok Sabha seat election, Shah asserted that each vote for Debbarman would strengthen Modi’s position for a third term as Prime Minister.
The rally was part of the BJP’s campaign for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in Tripura East on April 26.
Shah held meetings with local leaders, including former Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb and TIPRA supremo Pradyot Debbarma, to bolster campaign efforts.
