AGARTALA: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its second list of candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections named two royals among the contenders.
On among the two royals is Maharani Kriti Singh Debbarma from Tripura.

ABOUT MAHARANI KRITI SINGH DEBBARMA
Maharani Kriti Singh Debbarma, set to contest in the upcoming general elections, is the elder sister of Pradyot Manikya Debbarma, the head of the Tripura royal family and founder of the Tipra Motha Party.
Notably, Kriti hails from a family deeply rooted in politics, with both her parents being active members of the Congress party.

Her father, Kirit Bikram Debbarma, served as a three-time MP, while her mother, Bibhu Kumari Devi, held the position of Revenue Minister in Tripura.
Remarkably, Kriti’s father was the last reigning monarch of the state, adding historical significance to her candidacy.
This announcement follows closely on the heels of the TIPRA Motha party’s alliance with the BJP-IPFT government in Tripura.
Tripura chief minister Dr Manik Saha extended his congratulations to Kriti Singh for her nomination as the BJP candidate, expressing confidence in the reformation of the BJP-led NDA government.
The TIPRA Motha party also joined in extending their felicitations to Kriti Singh for her selection to contest from the East constituency.
In a statement posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), the TIPRA Motha party hailed Kriti Singh’s nomination as a significant milestone towards the successful implementation of the historic Tiprasa accord.
They conveyed their “heartiest congratulations” to Maharani Kriti Singh Debbarma for being declared as the joint candidate of the TIPRA Motha party and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from the Tripura East (ST) Parliamentary Constituency.
