Tehran: In a recent development, Israeli Minister Benny Gantz has asserted Israel’s stance on retaliating against Iran following the unprecedented drone and missile attacks on its territories. Gantz emphasized Israel’s determination to choose the appropriate time and method to “exact the price from Iran.”
Iran, on the other hand, has defended its actions as exercising its “inherent right to self-defence,” according to its envoy to the United Nations. The attack on Israel was framed by Iran as a necessary response to the destruction of its consulate building in Damascus, an act largely attributed to Israel.
Following unprecedented drone and missile attacks on its territory, Israel’s Defense Minister Benny Gantz promised a measured response to “exact a price from Iran” at a time and in a manner of their choosing.
At the UN, Israel’s representative urged the Security Council to impose sanctions on Iran, while Iran warned Israel against further military action.
In response, Israel’s representative to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, has called for the Security Council to impose comprehensive sanctions on Iran. This call for action aligns with previous statements by G7 leaders who expressed readiness to take further measures against perceived destabilizing initiatives.
Despite warnings from Iran against military retaliation, a high-ranking US official revealed that President Joe Biden has conveyed to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the US would not provide military backing for any retaliatory actions against Iran.
President Biden, however, disclosed that American forces had assisted Israel in intercepting the majority of the drones and missiles launched by Iran. He also announced plans to convene with other G7 leaders to devise a diplomatic response to Tehran’s actions.
