Guwahati: The Kamrup District Council of the Communist Party of India (CPI) observed November Revolution Day in Guwahati, commemorating the historic revolution and reflecting on its enduring political and ideological significance.

The programme was held under the guidance of veteran party leader Comrade Dambaru Bora, with the party reiterating its commitment to addressing pressing regional issues alongside its ideological principles.

During the observance, the CPI expressed solidarity with students in Arunachal Pradesh who are protesting against the proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP) on the Siang River.

The party also raised concerns over the impact of recurring floods in Upper Assam and demanded adequate compensation and speedy rehabilitation for families affected by the devastation.

It called for timely assistance to flood-hit households and measures to address their rehabilitation needs.

Through these demands, the Kamrup District Council sought to highlight issues concerning environmental concerns, public participation in development projects and the welfare of communities affected by natural disasters.

The observance combined a reflection on the legacy of the November Revolution with the party’s position on contemporary political, environmental and livelihood-related concerns in the region.
