Guwahati: General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Spear Corps Lt Gen Abhijit Pendharkar on Monday visited the Assam Rifles headquarters at Kakching and Churachandpur in Manipur to review the prevailing security situation in the area.

During his visit, the GOC conducted an in-depth assessment of the ground realities, interacted with troops deployed in the field, and lauded their unwavering dedication and professionalism, the Assam Rifles said in a press statement.

He emphasised the importance of maintaining high levels of operational readiness and continuing their exemplary efforts to uphold the safety and security of the region, it added.

The GOC also engaged with the ex-servicemen of the area, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the society and the nation, it said.

Addressing the veterans, he reaffirmed the Indian Army’s resolve to support and remain connected with its retired personnel, recognising their role as vital members of the defence fraternity, the statement added.

Lt Gen Pendharkar also met the civil society organisations (CSOs) and highlighted the importance of collaboration between the armed forces, local communities and civil society to effectively address security challenges, it said.

He complemented the troops for their steadfast commitment and efforts in ensuring peace and stability, it added.

He urged them to remain vigilant and proactive in the face of any challenges, assuring them of his full support in all operational endeavours, it said.

The visit underscored the commitment of Assam Rifles in ensuring peace, stability and coordination in the districts of Kakching, Churachandpur and Thoubal, the statement added.
