Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal called upon the women of the state to act as a bridge between the Government and the society and take the message of the development schemes eliciting active public participation in the development narrative of the state.

While speaking at the “Sahayika Samaroh”, which was organized for generating awareness on government schemes amongst the women representatives of 219 development blocks of the state at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra here, Chief Minister Sonowal said women of the state would have to play a significant role in taking the developmental programmes of the Government forward.

The Sahayika Samaroh was organized as a platform for the women representatives to get an understanding of development schemes implemented by government departments.

“As mothers, women play an important role in their families. They must play similar role in building a developed society”, Sonowal added.

Sonowal further said that people in the villages fail to make best use of government schemes due to lack of awareness and emphasised that the women representatives must carry the message of the development programmes to grass root level.

Sonowal also advised the representatives to establish regular contact with the government officials to get in-depth understanding about the schemes.

The Chief Minister also underscored the need of ‘good people’ in the society for good governance and urged the teachers and parents to instil ethical values amongst the young generation.
