Trumpโ€™s announcements to send ventilators to India came just after a month the latter had provided a consignment of Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) tablets to the US.

โ€œI am proud to announce that the United States will donate ventilators to our friends in India. We stand with India and @narendramodi during this pandemic,โ€ Trump tweeted.

Addressing the media, Trump lauded the Indian-American scientists for their efforts in developing medicines and vaccines in the hope of finding a cure for COVID-19.

โ€œI just got back a short while ago from India recently and we are working very much with India and we have a tremendous Indian population in the US and many of the people that you are talking about are working on the vaccine too. Great scientist and researchers,โ€ he said.

He also said that he is hopeful that a COVID-19 vaccine would be available by the end of this year.
