The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Mumbai Police has busted an illegal Bangladeshi immigration racket.

As many as 8 persons, including 4 Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested by the Mumbai ATS in connection with the case.

An agent, who allegedly made and supplied fake Indian passports and other relevant documents for 85 Bangladesh nationals and facilitated their stay in the country is also among those arrested.

The arrested persons have been identified as Akram Noor Nabi Ollauddin Shaikh alias Akram Khan (28), a resident of Wadala; Mohd Rafiq Rehmatulla Sayyad (42) from Mumbra in Thane; Idris Mohammad  Shaikh (57), a resident of Mumbra;  Avin Gangaram Kedare (35), a resident of Antop Hill; Nitin Rajaram Nikam (43), hailing from Taloja in Navi Mumbai; Mohd Soahil Abdul Subhan Shaikh (33); Abdul Khair Samsulhaq (42) and Abul Hasham alias Abul Kasham Shaikh (26).

Akram Khan, a Bangladeshi national was nabbed in Mumbai last month and following his interrogation, he revealed that he was a resident of Novokhali district in Bangladesh.

Akram Khan entered India without any valid documents.

“Investigation revealed that Akram was involved in preparation and supply of fake identity cards to other Bangladeshi immigrants. He had travelled to India without any documents and was helped by one Rafiq from Mumbra, Thane, in forging Aadhar card, PAN card and passport,” said ATS.

Akram Khan was helped by Rafiq Rehmatulla Sayyad in getting forged documents like Aadhar Card, PAN Card and an Indian Passport.

“Scrutiny of records revealed that Sayyad has been involved in providing at least 85 fake Indian identity cards and passports to illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. He used forged documents such as PAN card, Aadhar card, election card, ration card, electric bill, rent agreements, school leaving certificate, birth certificate, bank passbooks which are requisite for processing a passport,” said Mumbai TS Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajkumar Shinde.

All those arrested have been booked under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Passport Act (Entry into India), Foreigners Act and Criminal procedure code.
