West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said she has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to withdraw NRC, NPR, and CAA.

Banerjee was interacting with the media after she met the Prime Minister at Raj Bhawan in Kolkata.

Modi is on a two-day visit to the state.

“I requested the PM to rethink regarding National Register of Citizens (NRC), Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Population Register (NPR),” Banerjee said.

She further requested Modi to release Rs 38,000 for Bengal.

“After listening to me, PM Modi asked me to discuss these issues elaborately in Delhi in the coming days,” the CM added.

Later, the CM attended a public meet against the NRC and CAA.

This is Modi’s first visit to the state after the BJP’s impressive show in the last Lok Sabha election.

In the last Lok Sabha poll, the BJP won 18 of the 42 seats in the state.
