With an aim to help the low-income customers to stay connected during the nationwide lockdown, Vodafone Idea on Tuesday announced an extension of the validity on prepaid plans availed by them using feature phones till April 17.
The company has also decided to provide a talk time of Rs 10 to these customers.
Bharti Airtel on Monday had already announced an extension in the validity period of over 8 crores pre-paid connections until April 17 as well as credited talk time of Rs 10 in these accounts.
BSNL and MTNL have also announced they will extend the validity period of their prepaid mobile services till April 20.
They have also announced of offering an additional talk time of Rs 10 even after zero balance.
This move has been taken to enable users, especially poor and underprivileged, to stay connected during the 21-day nationwide lockdown.
It is worth mentioning here that TRAI on Sunday asked telecom operators to extend the prepaid validity period to ensure that subscribers get uninterrupted services.
The TRAI has also sought details of the steps taken to ensure the availability of uninterrupted telecom services to such customers.
