The Indian Army will have a new combat uniform for its personnel with an aim to provide more comfort and sustainability.

A media report quoted sources as saying that the new combat uniform is likely to be unveiled during the Army Day Parade on January 15, 2022.

It has been reported that for the first time in its history, the Army Day parade will witness uniform and weapons of different eras, dating back to even the pre-Independence times.

The armed troops will participate in the march-past of the Republic Day sporting the new uniform.

Sources said the new uniform of the Army will be of digital pattern like the troopers of the US Army use.

The report quoted a senior Indian Army official as saying: “The camouflage of the changed uniform is better than its previous one.”

The official said the Army has always objected to other paramilitary forces wearing combat dresses of similar pattern.

The official said they had “flagged it” many a time earlier.

The Army contingents at the Army Day parade and the Republic Day parade so far have marched sporting dresses as per the different regiments.

The Army soldiers will not have to tuck-in the dress, the official said adding that in the new uniform, the belt will be under the dress.

The official further said it has been designed keeping the comfort levels in mind.
