Officers and staff of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) have decided to contribute one dayโ€™s salary to PM CARES Fund.

The decision has been taken in order to help the Centre contain coronavirus outbreak in the country.

The Prime Ministerโ€™s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) fund is a public charitable trust and it has been set up to provide emergency relief.

ITAT president PP Bhatt said, โ€œThe decision has been made in consultation with all the vice presidents of ITAT.โ€

The ITAT further urged all of its other stakeholders to come forward and contribute generously to the PM CARES fund.

โ€œThese donations have been exempted from income tax under Section 80 (G) of the Income-tax Act, 1961,โ€ Bhatt clarified.
