Defence minister Rajnath Singh has approved a proposal for the contribution of one day salary by the employees of Ministry of Defence to the PM-CARES Fund to fight Covid-19.
It is estimated that around Rs 500 crore will be collectively provided by the ministry to the fund from various wings, including Army, Navy, Air Force, Defence PSUs and others.

The employees’ contribution is voluntary and those desirous of opting out will be exempted.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the people to donate openheartedly at PM’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) fund.
“This will be a dedicated national fund with the primary objective of dealing with any kind of emergency or distress situation like posed by the COVID-19 pandemic,” the PM said.

And accordingly, the Prime Minister shared a UPI ID as well where people can donate openheartedly.
The account number for the PM CARES fund is 2121PM20202 with IFSC code SBIN0000691. The SWIFT code is SBININBB104.
People can also donate to the fund on pmindia.gov.in using UPI, Net Banking, RTGS, NEFT and debit and credit cards.
