Guwahati: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday escalated its protest against Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, warning of a nationwide campaign if the Centre fails to address its demands within the next week.
The announcement came after the deadline set by the organisation for the minister’s resignation passed without any official response from the government.
Speaking to reporters, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the group has now given the Union government seven days to act, while calling on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take disciplinary action against Pradhan and remove him from the Cabinet.
Ranka asserted that the organisation’s movement is centred on the interests of students and the future of the country’s education system. He claimed that concerns raised by young people over the functioning of the education sector can no longer be ignored and stressed that accountability must be fixed at the highest level.
Warning that the agitation could expand beyond the national capital, Ranka said the current phase of the protest was only the beginning. He maintained that the organization would continue to mobilize students and youth across the country if its demands remain unaddressed.
The CJP has been campaigning on issues related to education and examination reforms, arguing that meaningful changes are necessary to restore confidence among students and job aspirants. The outfit reiterated that it would intensify its movement in the coming days if the government does not respond to its ultimatum.
