No new domestic cases of coronavirus were reported for the first time in China on Wednesday.
This was revealed by China’s National Health Commission in its daily report on Thursday.
As per reports, China has achieved this new milestone after a period of three months ever since the outbreak of the deadly disease first started in Wuhan in December last year.
Wuhan, which bore the brunt of the virus since it broke out in December last year, also reported zero cases on Wednesday, marking a notable first in the city’s months-long battle with the deadly virus, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Although 34 new confirmed cases of coronavirus cases were detected in China on Wednesday, they were all from those arriving from abroad.
Among the 34 newly imported cases, 21 were reported in Beijing, nine in the Guangdong Province, two in Shanghai, one in the Heilongjiang Province and one in the Zhejiang Province.
China so far has reported a total of 80,928 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 of which 3,245 died, while 70,420 patients were discharged after treatment.

Meanwhile, Italy on Wednesday reported 475 deaths due to coronavirus which is the highest official one-day toll of any nation ever since the deadly disease was first detected in China.
As per reports, the overall death toll due to coronavirus increased to 2978 in Italy on Thursday.
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Italy reached 35713 on Thursday, nearing to half the total cases in China which stood at 81102.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases increased to 166 in India on Thursday.
