Darrang district joint director of health Ruplal Nunisa on Monday informed that China returned Mangaldai youth has tested negative for the virus.

“There is nothing to worry as the 22-year-old youth has been quarantined twice,” Nunisa said while speaking to Northeast Now.

“He was first quarantined for 40 days and then again for 14 days. He tested negative on February 27 and the test was repeated after 14 days and he tested negative even then,” he added

“He is still under the observation of the health officials here at his ward no 3 residence,” Nunisa added.

On the other hand, a German tourist, who is presently in Pathorighat area of the district, also did not show any symptom of the disease.

“There is no sign of any symptom on the elderly German tourist who had come to Pathorighat from Goa along with a person from the area who used to stay in Goa,” infomred Nunisa.

He urged the public to not panic and take the precautions for everyone’s safety.

Isolation wards have been kept at Mangaldai Civil Hospital and in every model hospitals and primary health centres of the district.
