Gauhati University Assam is inviting applications from eligible candidates for recruitment to the posts or career of Remote Sensing & GIS Instructor in the Department of Geography for the PG Diploma Course in Remote Sensing and GIS (Self-financed) in 2026.

Educational Qualification :

1. A minimum of a Master’s Degree or M. Tech. in Geography, Geoinformatics, Geospatial Science, Remote Sensing, GIS or a closely related discipline from a recognized University/Institution.

2. Candidates possessing a Ph.D. in Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, GIS or a relevant field will be preferred.

Experience :

1. Relevant academic and/or industry experience in Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, GIS, spatial data analysis and related applications will be desirable.

2. Experience in handling real-world geospatial projects, industry-oriented applications and collaborative research will be an added advantage.

Desirable Skills :

Candidates should preferably possess:

  1. Proficiency in GIS softrarare such as ArcGIS, QGIS and related geospatial platforms.
  2. Practical knowledge of Remote Sensing and image processing.
  3. Experience in handling Total Station, DGPS, GNSS, Drone/UAV and other modern surveying instruments.
  4. Expertise in spatial data analysis, geospatial modelling and cartographic techniques.
  5. Knowledge of programming languages such as Python and R.
  6. Familiarity with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence techniques and their applications in geospatial data analysis.
  7. Experience in Google Earth Engine (GEE), spatial modelling and geospatial data visualization will be an added advantage.
  8. Ability to integrate emerging geospatial technologies into teaching, training and research.

Remuneration : Rs. 38,000/- per month (Fixed)
