A 63-year-old Australian man was arrested from Nepal‘s Pokhara city, early on Tuesday morning, in a suspected incident of paedophilia where he is alleged of sexually abusing two children.

Police sources informed that the man was living in Nepal for the past three years.

Police spokesman Dipak Regmi said, “The man’s apartment was raided by a special police unit and we rescued two boys.”

The rescued boys are aged 12 and 14 respectively.

Identified as Alfred, the Australian was engaged with a paragliding company in Pokhara as a paraglider.

Tuesday’s arrest was a part of a series of operations against foreigners suspected of paedophilia.

In Nepal, a paedophile convict is sentenced for 15 years in jail.

Earlier in July 2019, a Canadian was convicted of paedophilia and was convicted for nine years in prison.

Apart from him earlier in January, a 50-year-old British man was arrested for paedophilia from Kathmandu.

Police informed that in July 2018, three Frenchmen were arrested for paedophilia.

“We have arrested at least 12 foreigners, suspected of paedophilia, in the last three years,” police added.

The police further said that suspected cases of paedophilia are on the rise in Nepal.

The police and various civil bodies in Nepal have up the ante against paedophilia.

To uproot paedophilia for giving a secured future to their children is one of the prime aims of the people in Nepal.
