Sushil  Mili ,  (42), a villager of Alimor Mising Gaon,  Jhanjimukh in the district was trampled to death by a wild tusker on Friday night when he had gone out of his house for some work.
A forest department official said that a herd of wild elephants was inhabiting the outlying sand banks of the Brahmaputra and sometimes made their way inland.
The forest department guards were maintaining a vigil but sometimes a few elephants gave them the slip.
The area falls under  Bhogamukh police station under Teok Mouza.
On December 15, Ganesh Karmakar,  a tea worker of Kharikatia tea estate under Mariani forest range of the district  was trampled to death by a wild elephants in the wee hours.
