Kokrajhar SP Rajen Singh

An executive magistrate in western Assam’s Kokrajhar district was assaulted by a top police official, the visuals of which were captured on CCTV camera.

The video, which was surfaced on Friday, shows Kokrajhar superintendent of police (SP) Rajen Singh dragging and beating up executive magistrate Sailen Das inside a room.

The incident reportedly took place on September 9 in a hotel in Kokrajhar during a dinner party.

Regarding incident, RTI activist Dulal Bora, who claimed to have first accessed the visuals, said SP Singh assaulted the executive magistrate when he requested Singh to sing a song in the party.

“Instead of accede to his requests, SP Singh assaulted Das. Singh even tore the shirt of Das in front of everyone present in the party,” Bora told reporters here.

Bora has demanded a probe into the incident.

He said he will lodge a complaint with the criminal investigation of department (CID) of Assam police against SP Singh on Saturday.

Bora also called upon chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal to order a judicial probe into the incident.

SP Singh was not available for comments despite repeated attempts.
