According to a top Myanmarese official who refused to be named said that this is first phase of joint inspections.

In the second phase, inspections of the border with India will be done for demarcation.

Both China and Myanmar have agreed to resume the inspections, which were supposed to have been done every five years.
The negotiations are led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ground surveys are carried out by the Department of Survey.
The General Administration Department and local authorities are in charge of erecting border posts.
The India-Myanmar border is nearly 1460 km long.
Most of this stress is unmanned and open to anti-social activities.
The official further said that it had received a proposal from India to demarcate the border in the Kabaw valley in Sagaing region.
The region shares international border with the states of Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
Myanmar has a 2227 km-long border with China.
The two countries ratified a border agreement in 1961 and registered it with the UN.
They carried out the joint demarcation of the border in 1986 and 1995.
