Heavy snowfall has affected normal life in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

According to media reports, due to heavy snowfall in Tawang district, the road between Jaswantgarh to Sela has been blocked.

It has been reported that heavy snowfall has occurred in the district during the last three days.

As per information, the Border Road Organisation (BRO) has deployed snow cutter vehicles to clear the snow from the road.

On Monday, Union minister of state for home affairs Kiren Rijiju during his Tawang visit had to push his car to move in a road at Sela Pas in the district.

Informing about the heavy snowfall in Tawang, union minister on his Twitter handle on Monday stated: “Life is not easy in border areas. We managed to push through Sela Pass before the heavy snowfall could block the road.”

The Sela Pass is a high-altitude mountain pass located along the Indo-China border between Tawang and West Kameng districts of Arunachal Pradesh. Rijiju was born in West Kameng district.

Claiming that the difficulties while going to Tawang will be over within few years, the union minister stated: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji has laid the foundation for Sela tunnel. The perennial difficulties while going to Tawang will become smooth within few years.”

In another tweet on Sunday, union minister Rijiju while uploading an image of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja Statue at Maratha Ground in a remote border on the way to Bumla in Tawang of Arunachal Pradesh, said: “Heavy snowfall prevented my team from going beyond.”
